Blanche Barkly Wines

Blanche Barkly Wines is located on the former goldfields of Kingower. The soil is deep and rich with minerals. Irrigation is not used and the rainfall is low. The carrying capacity of the vineyard is carefully managed so that the fruit neither stalls nor over-ripens. Organic style viticultural practices are employed, and the wines are made solely from hand picked grapes grown on site. The vine canopies are hand pruned and fruit is relieved from the vine to ensure development of flavor. Rotary fermenters that simulate hand plunging are used, and basket-pressing ensures the extraction of deep, soft tannins essential to long-lived vintage wines. The profile is completed by maturation in French and American oak. Minimal filtering is used and crust formation in the bottle over time is normal. The low yields delivered by the Kingower climate result in more berries to the bottle. Natural fruit flavours are concentrated, and the result is a complex palate with breadth and depth.

Blanche Barkly wines are not timid. Drink them young to experience the vibrant, fresh flavours, or cellar for up to twenty years to enjoy the emerging tertiary characters.
